Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Following a cold and windy first three days of the week the weather improved slightly and catches rose accordingly. Although the fish are moving on the surface, most fo the better catches this week have come from lures and nymphs fished quite deep with a quick retrieve on intermediate lines. Buzzers and snatchers are coming to the fore and with temperatures improving, catches in the upper water column may improve over the coming weeks.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Keir, Fyvie (2 visits), 37 fish, (black fritz), A Murray, Gardenstown (several visits), 25 fish, (black fritz), M McPherson, Llanbryde, 22 fish, (black snatcher, damsel), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 14 fish, (olive WSW, yellow dancer), C Field, Fraserburgh, 14 fish, (black WSW), A McPherson, Llanbryde, 12 fish, (Shipman's buzzer), C Watson, New Deer, 7 fish, (lime green gold head), N Thomson, Turriff, 6 fish, (buzzers), A Burnett, Gardenstown, 6 fish, (olive damsel), K Hall, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (olive damsel), M Stewart, Methlick, 6 fish, (cat's whiskers).
The forecast for the coming week is for temperatures to rise steadily and for the winds to remain light.
