Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 7/3/15
« on: March 08, 2015, 13:21:57 PM »
What a difference a week makes. From mid week the air and water temperatures rose slightly although a westerly wind still persisted. The fishing improved greatly and good catches were recorded and encouragingly the fish seemed interested in smaller lures, nymphs and buzzers as well as lures fished deep on a slow retrieve. With the fish being active higher in the water column, most anglers enjoyed catches with the best amongst them being; A Gibson, Gardenstown, 26 fish, (olive WSW), C Wattt, St Fergus, 23 fish, (various lures), J Mackay, Macduff, 23 fish, (lime green fritz), L Adams, Aberdeen, 17 fish, (cormorant, minkies), A Murray, Gardenstown, 13 fish, (fritz, cat's whisker), L Bain, Australia, 10 fish, (pink lure), S Wilson, King Edward, 9 fish, (yellow dancer), J Dalziel, Peterhead, 8 fish, (brown fritz, white/red lure), J Hanson, Turriff, 8 fish, (cormorant), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers).
The weather forecast for the next week remains mixed with lower temperatures and the possibility of rain together with a continuing breeze.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 5pm although closing times will extend from the end of March. Novices and visitors are welcome and booking is not necessary. The fishery will extend free fishing to all 14's and under if accompanied by a paying adult. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
