Glen of Rothes trout fishery

Signs of spring this week with oyster catchers appearing along with lighter mornings and March itself.Fishing was much better with conditions not being what we see in the forecasts and were good fishing.Fish are coming much closer to the surface for feeding now so floating line and intermediates not fished as deep are best.Black bunny leeches, black fritzs, buzzers in black came to the fore second part of the week and yellow dancers and white fritzs for the early part .Good numbers of fish were taken with averages around 5 fish a session.Douglas Hennon had 10 fish for his few hours,Colin Moffat had  a fish of 5lb 15oz,Ian Hendry had a 4lb 14ozs,Gordon Grant landed himself £50 for a tagged fish from his 9,Richard Ovington had a good day with 17 fish,Martin Smith had a 6lb fish,Donald Patience a nice 4lb 14ozs Blue,Kevin Macrae a 3lb 5ozs Blue and Zak Keez had a fish of 6lb also. With the weather getting better the fishing should follow and will be feeding hard once again after the winter months and ones which have been caught have certainly faired well over the colder months and are in fit condition.

Coarse Loch

Slower this week but still fish being caught.Fred Buckingham had a great day with roach and carp. The roach were surprising, as the size of them over 3lbs shows just how much they have put on the weight over the years since they were put in.Fine and healthy which is important. The carp a shade over the 3lb mark.Taken on sweetcorn and pellet of the bottom and under the float. With temperatures set to warm up it will be ideal for fish to feed after their spawning.

Millbuies Trout fishery

Plenty of sport this week on the lochs for anglers and certainly plenty of fish being caught. The Browns proving popular with the colours of them being deep golden brown with red spots and around the 2lb mark with one or two upto 4lbs which are the rersident wild stock and all Browns are to be returned.Stocking of the rainbows and Blues have started and adding to the tremendous sport to be had here.Certainly plenty of happy faces at the end of sessions says it all.As for numbers lets just say there is plenty to be caught.but its a different fishing environment and experience and no indicators to be used here.

As always pictures and daily updates are on our Facebook pages for each fishery showing catches and other wildlife .

Alan showing his age lol.

Rob Brownfield

Kev, are you saying the Roach were over 3 pounds??????

Colin Sunley

Put on my bucket list for this year,  That looks like a fun day,

you have to pre-book  right  ?

Kevin Moss

Yes Rob that's right. cracking fish.

Cosun you book at the Glen as its booking only with only 4 boats on the loch at any 1 time unless a club there is 6 boats available. 16 acres of water so its not for those who want to fish shoulder to shoulder, rather for those who like to enjoy tranquillity and peace.

Allan Liddle

Can vouch for the beauty and quality of the place and the fishing.  Saturday was a cracking days fishing and keep to hook up with a few forum members for what will be a great day out when it's warmer.  :z16

Good to see you had a good day Allan.Very pleasing to see good release of fish I hope people will take notice on how its done,it isn't rocket science and if unsure they only have to ask as that's how we learn. Thanks for that. The dogs enjoyed it and your boat partner from the looks of it.

There is a video on facebook to show how it s done by Allan.Care of fish is important and if you want quality you as an angler, need to help by practicing good release.
