Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 21/2/15
« on: February 22, 2015, 16:06:50 PM »
The past week has seen lower temperatures although overhead conditions have been condusive to good angling. The combination of lower temperature and longer periods of bright sunshine appear to have driven the fish deeper and more attracted to a slower retrieved lure with pink and olive being the preferred colour choice. At certain periods of the day fish are now responding to nymphs and buzzers and are quite aggressive in attacking them. The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Green, Huntly, 10 fish, (green/white okey dokey), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, (pink fritz), M Stewart, Methlick, 8 fish, (black green Montana), C Field, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (mini WSW), K Fraser, Greeness, 7 fish, (olive damsel).
The forecast for the coming week is rather mixed with winds being the predominant feature. However, as temperatures rise we can expect the fish to become increasingly aggressive in feeding which should see activity higher in the water column.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 5pm. Visitors and novices are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
