I've seen Trout rising at lunchtime but have been focusing my efforts around 5-6 til 10ish. Still the odd Sedge but mostly BWO and smaller upwings. Don't forget about spinner patterns!

This was the result  :cry

Note to self, when you hook something decent in a heavy flow don't try to bully it!!  :X1

You did that on a fish :shock

Must have taken a fair dink at some point to cause a circumferential stress raiser to get a clean break.

Will be interesting to see what Greys say when you send it back :z16

Did you by any chance have the rod held high when that happened?

i'm with Sandy there. perhaps a nasty 'Clousering' or a big ding during transport because otherwise, rods don't tend to snap in that particular manner. anyhow, sorry for your loss...  :z4

Yes a fish was on at the time. I hooked it at the end of my drift as it began to swing.  It is possible it took a clattering on the way where I fish as it like a jungle at this time of year.  I wasn't high sticking  just applying a good amount of side pressure to try and steer it out of the main flow. It's with Greys now.

My first trophy since 1st April  :z14

Taken on the dry during a BWO hatch after a morning of nymphing. It was in awesome condition, I think it would be close to 4lbs.

I was out tonight for the first time in ages. Awesome night to be on the river not a breath of wind and the full moon reflecting on the water, magic.  Just as I was thinking of finishing up I covered a rise I'd half seen downstream of the rock I was perched on.  Oh my...... Long story short after a long battle where I was never really in control the hook fell out while we were both taking a breather. Huge trout, can't say how big but in the high single figures I'm guessing.  Would have been nice to have held it and got a closer look but just to battle with it like that in the moonlight was something I won't forget  :z14
