Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The main feature of this week's report must be the weather conditions which were less than condusive to enjoyable angling. Following several frosty nights the water temperature has dropped to a very low level and icing occurred during Friday night although thankfully the following day saw enough wind to dispel the ice and the water has been free since. The other main feature this week has been the high winds which on occasion made fishing impossible.
The past week has seen anglers very thin on the ground and any success has been achieved by fishing very deep with lures on a slow retrieve.
The best recorded catches were; A Murray, Gardenstown, 6 fish, (black/green fritz), C Buchan, Turriff, 6 fish, (yellow dancer), A Alexander,Turriff, 5 fish, (cat's whisker), J Mackay, Macduff, 4 fish, (blob).
The forecast for the coming week does not suggest any improvement with continuing low temperatures accompanied by winds and snow showers. It may be advisable to check conditions on the water before traveling to the fishery.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 4pm. Visitors and novices are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire from the fishery. Up to date conditions can be obtained by calling Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
