Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has seen the weather settle with only intermittent rainfall and lighter winds than the previous two weeks, and although we re still enjoying a good through flow of water as the ground drains through field drains the water clarity has improved dramatically and is clear at the moment.
However the air temperature and consequently the water temperature has remained unseasonably high and the feeding habits of the fish has remained quite volatile with the fish moving through the water column as light changes. The best recorded catches this week fell to; N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (white nomad, buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 12 fish, (pink fritz), K Fraser, Greeness, 9 fish, (pink blob, white minkie), C Watt, St Fergus, 8 fish, (white WSW), J Abel, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (pink blob), C Kelly, Turriff, 6 fish, (white fritz).
The forecast for the coming week suggests a continuation of the same weather conditions although the air and water temperature should lower as the week progresses. The predominance of lure fishing seems set to continue.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 4pm or as light permits. Booking is not necessary and novices and visitors are welcome. Boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery will remain open during the festive season apart from Christmas Day and New Year's Day. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
