« on: September 28, 2014, 12:47:35 PM »
The weather this week has remained settled and although some periods of bright sunshine curtailed the fishing activity most of the period remained favourable with only light breezes and relatively high temperatures for this time of the year. Fish activity remained quite good although rises to the dry fly were quite sporadic and only came when a good match to natural insect life was achieved. Nymphs and wets continued to yield returns with lures becoming more productive both when retrieved quickly through the upper reaches of the water column or when fished slowly nearer the bottom. Nearly all anglers returned catches with the best being; A Murray, Gardenstown, 33 fish over several visits, (white nomad, white fritz), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (WSW mini), S Edwards, Turriff, 17 fish, (dry fly, orange fritz), C Collie, Ellon, 13 fish, (olive CDC, orange fritz), J West, Fraserburgh, 11 fish, (olive fritz, cat's whiskers), I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (humungus, buzzers), F Young, Ellon, 8 fish, (orange fritz), A Gough, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (various lures), R Donaldson, St Fergus, 6 fish, (damsel nymph), R Decking, Birmingham, 6 fish, (viva).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 7pm (light permitting) and is open to visitors and novices. Booking is not necessary and boats (where required) rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery.
The forecast for the coming week still remains reasonable settled although some periods of rain might occur and temperatures may drop one or two degrees. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
