It may be my imagination, but there appears to be a woman in the Kelso video that is wearing stocking foot waders.

Love the fly tying bit to, no vice. My ex wife's grandmother used to tie flies, well, specifically build the wings for salmon flies for a tackle shop in Aberdeen. I believe it was Belmont Street and upstairs above a tackle shop. Playfairs?

It would either be Sharpes or Browns.   Somers made rods for Playfair.

Cocks of Leon, Spain ....... you will probably know them as "Coq de Leon", or in Spanish "Gallos de Leon".

The handsome bird in this photo is from the farm of Tomas Gil in La Candana De Curueño.

Tomas has an excellent reputation for fly tying feathers, he is also well known as a fly fishing guide and offers quality flies, fishing accommodation and tuition.

Check out his new website http://tomasgil.com/ the website is in Spanish, but there is lots to explore and you'll get the idea.

and proud !  :z4
apart from the special quality of these feathers the best part is the feathers are harvested by careful selective plucking and not killing the bird. in the same frame of mind that you don't chop down a tree to get an apple.

I like your thinking Marc. I was going to ask Edinburgh Zoo if they'd let me selectively pluck their Vulturine Guinea Fowl.  :z12

good luck with that....  :z4

on the other hand, I've had some nice feathers from them by asking for dropped feathers, notably a few big vulture feathers that are otherwise impossible to get legally  :wink

Yeah last time I was there (long time ago - not keen on Zoos) I was scrutinising the cage for droppped feathers, but no joy...  :X2

yup, not keen on zoos either. its just something that happens when you're handed a kid and you don't know what else to do with it...  :X2 :X1 :z4
anyhow, the keepers tend to store dropped feathers in the back workspace (or whatever its called) :wink

Autumn in Germany ...... A great photo from master casting instructor Juergen Friesenhahn, based in Hagen.

Juergen has a nice website with an interesting blog in both German and English. http://wurfkurse.de/
