Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 20/9/14
« on: September 21, 2014, 14:35:33 PM »
The past week has seen good water conditions with equally good overhead conditions both of which did not transmit to the fish who appeared unsettled and reluctant to sucuumb to artificial lures. The surface activity remained high but unless presented with a good imitation, anglers grew frustrated at having their presentation examined and then rejected in favour of the real thing. Lures were now also becoming attractive and as the weather settles into autumn/winter more catches should improve assisted by the diminishing amount of natural feed.
Most anglers are recording catches of the wild brownie population with these fish responding to a quickly retrieved fly just under the surface.
The highest recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 39 fish, (white nomad, red fritz), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 36 fish, )olive fritz, lures), L Adams, Aberdeen, 24 fish, (blobs, various lures), M Shewan, Aberdeen, 22 fish, (buzzers, blobs), I Watt, Turriff, 11 fish, (buzzers), J Mackay, Macduff, 7 fish, (lures), K Fraser, Greeness, 6 fish, (olive damsel), C MacLean, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (dry flies).
The forecast for the coming week remains in the same vein and hopefully will allow the feeding patterns to develop.
