Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

I am sure that we all enjoyed the Commonwealth Games. The TV coverage was excellent with non-stop action from a huge variety of different sports.

At Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum, the action has continued for all anglers with plenty of fish coming to the net and a wide choice of flies and methods all working well.

Scott Cumming was out from Dyce and returned eight using buzzers and dries while Mark Wallace had the same score all on buzzers. Chris Matthews had an excellent day recording seventeen on a mix of buzzers, crunchers and blobs.

Tuesday was a fine day and angling companions W. Harley and R. Lessells made the most of it with bags of fourteen and ten respectively on bloodworms and buzzers. It was good to see Walter Senior bouncing back after his recent health scare with Walter and Jim McGuire banking twenty three between them.

Visitor Dale Street had a good time with thirteen on buzzers and commented how much better value the fishing is around here compared with the South of the border.

Lochter regular George Abel attracted eight with his lures and ever consistent blobby boy Doug Mair maintained his high standards with eleven.

At the time of writing the remnants of hurricane Bertha are making fishing impossible but it will have passed by Tuesday and normal service will be resumed with all lochs freshened up by the wind and rain.
