Line for Madeira mountain streams
« on: 26/06/2014 at 23:25 »
Hi all!

My name is Joćo Mota and i live in Madeira Island.

I want to try a Barrio fly line but i“m not certain which is the best one for me...

I normally cast dry flies #12/14 and some nymphs in the same size for rainbows in Madeira moutain streams, they are little water streams with pools, and I have a Redington Tempt 3wt 7'6''.

Here some pics of the streams...

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Hi Joćo,
Welcome to the forum :z16

Thank you for sharing the nice photos of your streams. For this type of water I think I would choose our Barrio Smallstream WF3F, or possibly our Mallard DT3F.

Which lines are your current favourites for fishing your streams?

Best wishes
Mike

Now that looks a lovely place to fish, proper small stream fishing. Thank you for putting up the photos.

I'm using Rio mainstream 3WF, a nice line but its showing some rock bites. I normally fish with 10ft of line out of the tip, and some times only the leader if I'm nymphing...in some rare times I must cast for the 30ft mark.

Hi Joćo,

Yes, the Barrio Smallstream WF3F would be my choice then, see http://www.flylineshop.com/barrio-smallstream-fly-line.html

But when you "only have the leader out of the tip" ...... the line will not make much difference of course :z4
