Lanyards for float tube fins
« on: 04/06/2014 at 17:28 »
Folks

My mates and I have just obtained a float tube and fins etc for a visit to Orkney.  We're wary about a fin falling off whilst afloat in the middle of a loch and are looking for any ideas about how best to prevent a "total loss" in such circumstances.  We were thinking about some sort of lanyard contraption to prevent this from happening.  Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Cheers

I use a couple of releasable cable ties threaded through the laces of my boots and round the cords of the fins. They are easy to take off and on and have been 100% reliable so far. You can get the from various places on ebay and have no end of uses on a tube  :z16

Thanks Rob, I like the look of them too.  I'll probably get both and see what I prefer best.
Cheers.

whatever you use be sure that its strong enough to hold a fallen palm but easy enough to break/tear off in case of an emergency.
