Glen of Rothes trout and coarse fishery

It has been a record breaking week with the capture of a New stocked Brown Trout record of 13lbs 4ozs which fell to angler Andrew More, bearing the mark from a failed osprey attempt, he took the fish on a size 14 diawl bach and was still shaking when his picture was taken. This beat the previous record by over 1lb 4ozs which has stood for a long time as we dont normally stock browns and as we had recently taken in some double figure Browns which we allowed to be taken as they were stocked  and all below doubles had to be returned as they are wild fish.It leaves a few more left to be taken but are not easy to catch.Willie McRobbie also had a great day with his heaviest fish ever at 10lbs 6ozs,taken on a blob.Despite the improvement in the water colour this week there was plenty of fish about to be caught and among them good Blues fell for many.JimEddie had a good fish of 7lb 14ozs,AlecBrown a 5lb8ozs,Ronnie Ewen had a 5lber,Archie Miller had 2 fish of 4lb 3ozs each,Jeff Findlay had a good start with a fish of 4lb 15ozs and Alistair Conner had a nice fish of 4lb 10 ozs.Quite a few anglers did report returning Browns which were between 1lb and 3lbs in weight which have not been stocked having entered from the 3 burns running into the lochs and show just how much they are growing over the years and doing well. The blues are fighting really well and with many to 4lbs they give twice their weight and take that little longer to return when caught so be patient with them as they are a beautiful fish.

Coarse Loch

The loch has continued to fish well with some very good bags and a good variety of fish being taken.soft pellet, meat and sweetcorn being the best baits.Roach,Ide,gudgeon, bream rudd and carp to 4lbs have been taken. There is alot more movement now with the water warming up just nicely .

Millbuies trout fishery

The clear water has produced some good fishing here with fish readily feeding off the top now and buzzers have been doing best with Kate Mclarens and spiders taking alot of fish. The top loch now being all clear of any weed has been fishing really well for anglers. Here is some examples of catches this week.George Prosser 2,R Prosser 1,John Shearson 7,Jonathan Williamson 1,Greg Stewart 10,Lee Benzie 3,Paul Wilminski 8,James Johnston 2,David Lietch 6,Richard Wilminski 6, Kev Middlemiss 6,Gary Gormley 8,Marc Ure 1,and Paul Keir 18.Please remember it is important to book first as the loch is very popular and chances of just turning up for a boat and one being available is slim.
