Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has seen settled weather which proved ideal for angling apart from short periods of bright sunshine and breezy conditions both of which upset the fish feeding patterns. The level of surface or immediate sub surface activity has remained high during the week with feeding occurring at high levels.
The best end tackle for the surface feeders have been buzzers and emergers on a slow retrieve whilst the lure anglers are still enjoying good sport with a variety of lures including cat's whisker, fritz and budgie fished on intermediate on sinking lines on a quick retrieve or a nymph on a slower retrieve.
The larger fish are now showing with several fish in the 7-9lb range being grassed during the week.
The best recorded catches this week fell to: A Murray, Gardenstown, 20 fish, (various lures), G Littler, Newmachar, 17 fish, (olive shipmans), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 16 fish, (emergers/buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 12 fish, (buzzers/nomad), J Clayton, King Edward, 11 fish, (olive nymph), P Wilson, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (mini lures/blobs), D Spence, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (fritz), G Small, Dunecht, 8 fish, (orange fritz/black buzzer), A Simmons, Inverurie, 8 fish, (bunny leech).
Next week's forecast looks set to remain favourable and conducive to good fishing.
