Lochter Report - Damsel Delight
« on: 31/03/2014 at 12:14 »
It was not the sight of fair maiden’s at the Fishery this week that was the cause of the delight but the effectiveness of that  mainstay  fly which most fishers have a variant of  :- the damsel. It comes in varying sizes and hues and they were on display  on many a rod to good effect this week.
With the colder wind most fish were further down in the water than in previous weeks but it didn’t prevent some pretty decent returns for the conditions.
On the damsel front , Ian Low had 10 fish for his day , Jim Will from Newmachar had 9 , Les Harris form Aberdeen had 11 , Bill Reid from Ellon had 7 and Colin Mutch had 9.
There were plenty other methods being used and a look through the returns book shows that John Maybury from Aberdeen had 7 fish on nomads, T Teil had 8 on buzzers, Mike Frost had 7 fish, one a nice brownie of 4lb, all on a yellow dancer. A Murdoch had 8 fish to the net on a black tadpole, Jamie McHardy had 6 on a black bunny leech and Paul Prockter from Aberdeen tempted 7 to his net using a WSW then a Rob Roy lure.
This Sunday 6th April sees Lochter holding a heat of the SANA Stillwater Competition .This is a chance to qualify for the next stage which are the semi finals being held at Allandale Tarn and Kingennie Fishery on 3rd and 4th May respectively with the final at New Haylie on Sunday 25th May. This competition is open to all comers and our heat could be your first stepping stone to gaining a Scotland cap and representing your country later in the year ,at the Home Internationals.

Lochter will be holding its Spring Singles Competition on Sunday 27th April this year. There will be lots of eager anglers out for this one so call the Fishery on 01651 872787 to book your place. There will be a variety of splendid fishing equipment prizes to be had on the day.
