As predicted last week the weather has settled to a more seasonable level with temperatures about average but still with a persistent breeze. Fish are operating at the top levels of the water and this week has seen further activity to surface action with the hopper proving successful. Sub surface catches have all been obtained on buzzers of various colours but with green being predominant whilst the lure fishermen have still been achieving success with fritz on a relatively fast retrieve.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Keir, Fyvie, 20 fish, (olive fritz), A Murray, Gardenstown, 17 fish,l (black fritz), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 16 fish, (buzzers), A Buchan, Turriff, 15 fish, (buzzers), N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (buzzers), K Fraser, Greeness, 10 fish (buzzers), J Graham, Elgin, 10 fish, (hoppers), B Gray, Largue, 8 fish, (buzzers).
This week has been forecast to be a continuance of the past seven days although changes in temperature are likely with slightly higher daytime levels and colder overnight conditions.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troumaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 7:30pm with closing times being adapted according to light conditions. Visitors and novices are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
