With the trout season opening legally on March 15th (many beats do not fish until 1st April) it is probably a good time to remind anglers that the Don and lower end of the Ury is covered by a Protection Order making it a Criminal Offence to fish for trout without written permission.  Please carry your permit to save any embarrassment or potentially more serious consequences should you be asked to prove permission to fish by one of the Don Bailiffs.  Most regular anglers will be aware that not all beats allow Sunday fishing for trout and that often, a trout permit will apply only to one of the two banks so, it is a good idea to know where beat boundaries are and where you should and shouldn't be on what days of the week.

Best of luck for 2014, hopefully it will be as productive a trout season as 2013.
