Delgatie Castle Fishing Report w/e 1/2/14
« on: 02/02/2014 at 23:16 »
Following a week where very few and brief fishing intervals were interrupted by prolonged periods of wind and rain leading to coloured water and high water levels, it would be nice to report a change where bodies on the banks could outnumber bodies in the fishing hut. However, current forecasts do not predict such a change in the short term and, the challenging conditions are set to continue. The most notable difference this year has been the absence of snow leading to difficult travel conditions and ice which precludes the possibility of successful angling but these missing weather conditions have been replaced by the presence of wind and rain which also prevents a satisfactory days fishing.
The successful anglers this week achieved that measure of success by fishing lures deep and on a slow retrieve and contacting the fish at, or near, bottom.
Hopefully next week's report will bring some more cheer as the approaching spring may signal a change in our fortunes. Our 2014 stocking programme is now in place and hopefully will lead to more activity amongst feeding fish.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days a week from 8:00am til 5:00pm (light permitting). Novices and visitors are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (if required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006.  :z15
