Lochter Report - Hardy Anglers Fare Well
« on: 14/01/2014 at 13:44 »
There is no doubt that some are more dedicated to their sport than others and during the past week at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum the cold chill and frost put off many but there were still plenty of committed anglers out for a cast.
Ice caused some difficulty on Sunday but for the rest of the week the lochs were pretty much ice-free and the fishing was good.
In spite of the cold there were plenty of trout moving on the surface as Ernie Snr and Ernie Jnr Mackay noted and netted fourteen between them using buzzers. Terry Daniels also used buzzers to grass half a dozen and R Reily had eight using a mix of buzzers and lures.
The trout are still feeding but are not inclined to chase so slowly retrieved flies have been  the answer.  W. Williamson had a lovely day out with seven to his name including a fine five pounder, he used cormorants and zonkers. Jim Weir, G Anderson and John Taylor had six each using a selection of lures including WSW`s, Cats Whiskers and Green Fritz.
Finally a reminder that the Robbie Burns Pairs is scheduled for Sunday 26th January with the traditional haggis neeps and tatties lunch provided.
