... and they can deal with a bit of wind as well .... I hope you'll like them...

Mike,

Had 3 early season outings with the Smallstream 4F, paired with either a 10ft Helios 4wt or a 10ft Access 4wt.

First impressions have been excellent.

Early season conditions have been brought lots of wind, either downstream or in yer face,, sometimes both, thus making fishing pretty tricky. Liking the line's profile, quite happy letting me get out a line. I guess the forward biased profile is helping me get a short line out at speed, with enough mass to help counter the wind and retain some control. Let's face it, it's always bloody windy around here, so a line like this is pretty essential.

Got a couple more outings soon, would like to see how the line handles on less blustery days too

Good work though, and v happy with it thus far
Iain,

Mike,

I just ordered a #4 Smallstream but can't help wondering if you've got a 'Midstream or Bigstream' on the horizon?  The same line/principal but with longer tapers/heads?  Just an idea really, but I'd certainly like a line in this format with say a total head length of 35' that has a loooong front taper and is great for overhead casting, true to line weight etc.

All the best
Pete

Mike,
Loving the new Smallstream line!  :z16
In the last week I've used it in a drifting boat as well as from the bank at a rainbow fishery. It was bought for my new Guideline Fario 9' #4, and there will be a review on that later.

Boat - Lovely and accurate with wets or dries. It covers the distance that you need in a boat (ie, not huge) and does it with no fuss or effort. Rolling the line out at the end of a retrieve is easy and one false cast and you are back in the water.

Bank - Overhead, roll and wind induced spey all just work. large flies, buzzers, dries and wets all go out easily. It doesn't carry much past the rear taper but 20 yards or more is available with a little haul and on a #4 what more can you ask for?

It floats nicely too and lies straight. More importantly it lands big fish like the one in the Loch somewhere report  :z4
