I think it was a Lancaster Jim, I don't remember him saying much about the war to be honest, but I remember the day that he gave me the helmet.

I used to make model planes and boats as a youngster.

Same here  Mike had Airfix Lanc's Spits , Hurrires and ME109' etc hanging form my bedroom ceiling
