Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The week started with very poor conditions with gales and intermittent rain making conditions impossible on Sunday and Monday although conditions improved from Tuesday onward with good fishing in the latter half of the week. The temperature drop has favoured the lure fisherman although good catches have been recorded to drys and buzzers. The emergence of lures has seen more activity from the bigger fish with several double figure fish caught during the week.
The best recorded catches this week fell to: A Murray, Gardenstown, 22 fish, (black/olive fritz, cat's whiskers), J McCow, Turriff, 14 fish, (orange gold head), D Coull, Rosehearty, 12 fish, (various lures), C McPhee, Peterehad, 12 fish, (buzzers, scruff), A Anderson, St Fergus, 8 fish, (olive/orange lures), D Stanford, Peterhead, 7 fish, (buzzers), M Ferguson, Turriff, 7 fish, (orange blob, red damsel), J Ritchie, Inverurie, 6 fish, (hopper), J Duncan, Peterhead, 6 fish, (various lures), D Reid, Banff, 6 fish, (dry fly).
The forecast for the beginning of next week looks to continue favourable and should lead to some good angling.
