Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

What a difference a week makes! Last week we were extolling the virtues of buzzers and dry flies and, although the lure continued to account for reasonable catches, this week we have now noticed the emergence of lures with the fritz, yellow dancer and cat's whisker coming to the fore.
The weather this week may account for the change with the fish patrolling deeper in the cooler water and a persistent breeze from all directions making surface fishing more difficult.
Some reasonable catches were still made but anglers had to fight harder to make contact with their quarry.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 16 fish, (black fritz/buzzer), L Sleeman, Macduff, 9 fish, (buzzers/blob), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers), I Black, Turriff, 5 fish, (dry fly).
The forecast for the coming week is quite mixed but the weekend saw a movement back to dry flies with a prolific hatch of 'daddies' and good sport can be enjoyed by anglers determined to pursue their quarry.
