Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Having endured another week of sunshine, high temperatures and little or no rainfall, it is pleasing to note that, when writing this report (Sunday am), it has been raining for the past two hours and the forecasters suggest that it will last all day. Could this bring us the long awaited flush of fresh water with a lowering of the water temperature into the bargain.
Despite the weather conditions the past week has seen some anglers enjoy good sport although they have had to adapt their fishing to suit the weather and follow the fish up and down the water column as they move to the deeper water during periods of bright sunshine and return to the surface during the more overcast periods.
This week has seen fishing the buzzer as the best option with depth being controlled by speed of the retrieve.
The best recorded catches have fallen to;
A Smith, (Ellon), 16 fish, (Buzzers), J West, (Fraerburgh), 14 fish, (Pink blob/Daddy), G Littler, (Newmachar), 14 fish, (Buzzers), I Watt, (Turriff), 13 fish, (Buzzers), D Stanford, (Peterhead), 12 fish, (Buzzers), N Thomson, (Turriff), 12 fish, (Cormorant/Buzzers), A Murray, (Gardenstown), 11 fish, (Buzzers), G Ellington, (Ellon), 10 fish, (Buzzers), W Macaffer, (Lochgilphead), 8 fish, (Wets).
The perdominant colours appear to be combinations of green/black.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am. Closing time is currently 10:00pm with a last start time of 7:30pm, however this will adjust as the night draw in.
