Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

This week has been one of almost uninterrupted sunshine accompanied by high temperatures which has moved the fish from the shallower waters into the relatively cooler conditions in the deeper middle water. This has also resulted in the predominance of lures as the main tackle although buzzers and nymphs fished deep have also yielded catches.
The absence of surface activity has restricted the dry fly activity with only limited rises in the evenings. A fresh flush of water would certainly help to "liven up" the fish although, according to the forecast, the likelihood of rain seems quite remote in the next seven days.
However, despite trying conditions, the following anglers still managed creditable catches; A Murray, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (cat's whisker/fritz),  D Stewart, Aberdeen, 16 fish, (buzzers), E Low, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (Montana nymphs), R Reilly, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (nymphs), R Davidson, Macduff, 9 fish, (nomad), G Littler, Newmachar, 8 fish, (beaded hopper), G Anderson, Macduff, 7 fish, (buzzers), T Harrold, Peterhead, 7 fish, (cat's whisker).
Although this week has not yielded many bigger fish it is pleasant to see the higher percentage of (blues) being caught with specimens of 4lb plus.
