Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 6/7/13
« on: July 07, 2013, 13:16:56 PM »
The past week has been settled but, true to from, anglers are commenting on the lack of rainfall and the bright sunshine. Is it possible to obtain ideal conditions? The dry conditions have prevented a desired flush of fresh water and has led to the fish lying deep and proving difficult to contact except to the lure fisherman. The anticipated evening rises of fish giving dry fly fishing has failed to materialise so far although brief glimpses of surface activity has been seen. Today (Sunday) sees rather cooler conditions forecast with the heat returning from Monday.
Despite the adverse conditions some good fishing was enjoyed with the top catches falling to:
A Murray, Gardenstown, 32 fish over several visits, (black fritz, cat's whisker), G Littler, Newmachar, 22 fish, (black buzzer, dry), G Anderson, Macduff, 12 fish, (nymphs, buzzers), G Small, Dunecht, 11 fish, (cat;s whisker), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 10 fish, (buzzers, E Low, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (montana nymph).
Several larger fish were landed with D Stewart, Aberdeen, E Hall, Cuminestown and A Murray, Gardenstown all landing fish approaching 10lb.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm with the last start time of 7:30pm. Visitors and novices are welcome and boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006.  :z15
