Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum  are delighted to be  hosting  the final of the SANA sponsored Stillwater Final this Sunday. Forty of the countries best  stillwater anglers all of whom have qualified in their regional heats will compete for a place in the Scottish team to represent their country  in the International against England Ireland and Wales scheduled for 24th of October back at Lochter.
The Heron and Osprey lochs will be used for the championship and the Muckle Troot loch will be available for non competition anglers while the all methods pool will be open for bait fishers and youngsters.
During the past week there have been a lot of fish moving on the surface as the warmer weather encouraged more fly life to hatch. Anglers have therefore to compete with this abundance of naturals so delicate presentation of the right flies was essential to tempt the trout.
Stephen Cowan reported that the water was “bubbling” with rises and he used his dries effectively to catch and release eleven, then returned the following day to net twenty nice fish.  Dries ,buzzers and sedges worked for fishing pals Ian Syme, David Seager, and Tom Murray who between them returned thirty two. Tuning up for the championship Andy Barrowman had sixteen on dries which bodes well while one of the most delighted fishers was Sam Stroyan from Aberdeen who on his first visit to Lochter landed a tagged trout which was worth £50 to him.
Also getting among the fish were Mike Frost with fourteen  on buzzers, Albert Trail ten on daddies and F Simpson who used klinkhammers to tempt eight.
The warm weather is forecast to  continue which will mean a continuation of the exciting surface action much loved by anglers. Finally good luck and tight lines to all the contenders  for a place in the Scottish Team .
