Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Mike Livingstone

Went out for the first time in a month to the Don before the trout season closed.  I had great fun for the 2 hours I was there taking 5 fish in the 4-8oz range.  Obviously not monsters but great fun.

Did anyone else hit the river today and how did you get on?

Anyone fish the last day of the Don trout season?

Was not out today, but was out yesterday (Friday 29th)  at Ardhuncart. No fly life at all  and absolutely nothing rising (except a few salmon par). Fished pretty hard, got a few small ones on upstream spiders / nymphs. Pretty grim  stuff though, but it was a nice day to be out.  Ah well, that's it until next April!  I notice that the 1st of April and 30th September are both Sundays in 2007. This will make the 2007  Don trout season 2 days shorter. Perhaps there is a god.
