Windy Weather for Fishers.
« on: 29/04/2013 at 11:55 »

Conditions at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum have been testing this past week for although the weather was brighter and temperatures a bit higher, the blustery wind made casting difficult and put several areas effectively out of bounds. There were however many  sheltered areas  and they yielded plenty of action.
Angling brothers Denny and Gordy Mackay were down for a couple of days from Inverness at the beginning of the week and quickly worked out how to get among the fish. They ended with sixteen on day one and twenty six on day two using green nymphs and buzzers.
John Berry from Newtonhill had a good day using diawl bachs and buzzers he netted nine nice quality and George Allan out from the town had eight on black buzzers.
As the week progressed so the wind persisted but the fishing remained good. Top scorer was Iain Morgan who caught and released seventeen, Steve Prince also on a sporting ticket had twelve and JohnTaylor nine including one of 8lbs.Buzzers and small nymphs were favoured by anglers and caught well for Jim Rennie and John Reid from Inverurie  but there were other scoring flies out there. W Young had seven on a yellow dancer, Tom Rhind nine on a black fritz and P Keir seventeen of which he kept three ,using the same fly .
The first qualifying heat of the £1000 Summer Series will be fished this Sunday 5th May .The time is 9.00am for a 9.30 cast off. There will be a monthly heat right through to the final in October with four anglers per heat going through plus the eight next best  wild cards. Anglers are recommended to give it a go and win a place in the final for as we all know anything can happen in a cup final !
