Glen of rothes trout and coarse fishery

Fish have responded very well to some better conditions with them coming closer to the surface but still just not quite takeable yet with dries, despite some anglers being keen and trying to draw one or two with a dry.It wont be long now untill they will be on them and the best of the sport can be enjoyed.Plenty of movement and surface activity is encouraging after a long winter and many good fish being taken and also lost.Fish are surely fighting well and have hadd anglers into the backing on quite a few occasions .Overall the most dominant colours at the moment are in olive and also black, like damsels, skunks and the budhie has taken well.Buzzers and traditional wets  of blae and blacks, black penels have worked very well with fish just under the surface and suspender buzzers should not be overlooked. Some of the notable catches this week were,Graham Boyd who had 15 fish with a 9,8 and a 7 lb er,paul kelly had a great day with a 5lb fish,Mike Brabham had a good fissh of 6lb 9ozs,Alistair Davidson had 17 fish with a nice brownie among them on wets,Gordon Grant had 20 fishand returned a 7 and a 4lb fish,Jim walker had a 5lber,Gavin Cromie had a 5 and 4lb 8oz,Geroge Stewart a 5lb,John Mellon had a good one at 6lb 3ozs,Dave McKay a 5lb 2 and a 4lb 7oz fish,Stuart Geddes a 7 lber and a Blue of 5lbs,Barry ward also had a blue of 5lbs,Callum Smith had a blue of3lbs,Jim Eddie had a blue of 4lbs and also a 9lb fish,Average bags were around 6 fish per session with quite a few hitting into double figures. Also good average of fish around the 3lb plus were recorded over the week.

On the coarse loch it was good to see fish being caught after a hard winter with roach, rudd, ide being the main fish and maggot and worm the best bait.John Allsopp did pick up a decent bag on pellet. With the water warming up its getting them movingnow and there has certainly been an increase in bags due to this.

Hi, is it possible to take your carp home, or have to release them all? Cheers.

Regards,

Mark

ALL coarse fish are to be returned to the loch unharmed. Same goes for any other coarse fishery in Scotland.

It is illegal to remove any coarse fish without the owners permission, and that includes Pike and Perch.
