Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has been plagued by consistently low temperatures which encouraged icing of the water which fortunately cleared each day as the sun rose and the air temperature increased. Despite the cold weather the fishing has been very good with an increasing amount of surface activity and with Buzzers and small nymphs proving most successful. The best recorded catches this week were:
C Fraser, Turriff, 27 fish, (Buzzers, Montanta, Nymph), J Kerr, Macduff, 11 fish, (Buzzers), J Wilson, Cullen, 10 fish, (Buzzers), N Thomson, Turriff, 7 fish, (Buzzers), J West, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Olive Lures), K Fraser, Greeness, 7 fish, (Lures, Buzzers).
C Fraser included 2 fish at 12lb and 8lb among his total whilst K Fraser also landed a nice 10lb specimen.
The forecast for the coming week does not predict any major change in temperature although an increase of a degree or two is not impossible. The fishery will close at 5:00pm each day until the temperature is conducive to evening fishing. The current opening times are 8:00am til 5:00pm for seven days and this will be revised weekly.
Boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery and visitors and novices are welcome. Booking is not necessary. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
