A cold week with the return of the snow, deterred some but not all anglers and the hardy brave souls certainly were rewarded with some good fishing and fish.As expected they were down in the water and lures and buzzers picked fish up with a slow figure of eight retrieve. Some examples of catches were Nicky Bremner with 7 and heaviest at 7lbs,Tom Anderson had 17 best at 13lbs 8ozs,John Mellon had 4 with a cracking Blue of 4lb 6ozs,Barry Ward had 12 with his best at 6lbs,Niel stone on 2 but with a 6lber made his day,Graham Boyd had 12 fish on buzzers with a 7lber,Gary Gormley had a good fish at 11lbs 8ozs and Jim Eddie also returned a double.Other anglers had upto 5 fish for their session and only 1 blank during the week.
On the coarse loch there was some ice which is welcome at the moment to allow the fish to settle after their journey north. This loch is not like commercial fisheries south of the border, they are feeding on the abundant aquatic life and natural baits work far better than bagged baits.Remember we do not allow groundbaiting a small amount is all that is needed with only 6 anglers allowed at a time on the loch for comfort of fishing. There should certainly be a difference in the fishing. There will be no fishing on here until Saturday.

The opening weekend was dampened with the weather of cold and snow, but those who did get out had plenty of good fishing deservedly.Best fell to OKane Mclennan with a fish of 6lbs 8ozs and his boat partner had a nice Blue of 4lbs 8ozs.Neil Smith and Dave Simpson both had fish with a tally in the boat of 19 fish, heaviest 4lbs 8ozs and 3lb 8ozs,Other boats also enjoyed plenty of fish which puts the loch in good stead for the season when the weather sorts itself out.Certainly the top of the water fishing is something to look forward to.
