Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Far better weather made fishing much easier for anglers as fish moved higher up in the water and showed signs of spring in the air as damsels, cats whiskers, nomads and buzzers started to work well.It still was a requirement to have intermediate andfloating lines handy with cold in the morning and warmer later on top.Fish coming to the bank didnt give up easy and were in great condition. There were no blanks during the week which was encouraging and some even got well into double figures for their sessions.
In no particular order and example of some catches.Dan McLaughlin had a 10lb 8ozs fish and returned a one of 6lbs in his 5 fish,Okane Mclennan had 11 fish and a 4lb 9ozs Blue on his second trip and a surprise 5lb carp,Ronnie Milne had 9 with his best at 6lb 8ozs,Jim Eddie had 15 with a 5lb4ozs fish,Gary Ulke had a nice 5lb 9ozs fish, dave Simpson had 12 fish,Neil smith had 20 with a6lb 2ozs fish his best of a bag of 13lb 4ozs,Nigel burgess had a great day with 22 fish ,among them blues over 4lbs and a good fish of 6lb 8ozs,gary morrison had 11 with a blue of 3lb 9ozs,Shaun Dowling had a 5lb 8ozs,Ali Hunter had 14 with a 6lb 7 ozs fish his best of a 3 fish bag of13.3ozs,Barry Whitford had a 4lb 2ozs,dave McGregor had 12 best of 5lb 2ozs,derek Williamson had12 with a 4lb 8ozs fish,Louis Ross had a nice fish of 7lb 7ozs,Neil Diamond had 10 with a 5lb 6ozs fish,Gary Gormley hooked up with a fish of 5lb and another of 4lbs on the same cast,Derek ritchie realised after he had released his fish that it had a tag in it and was unable to get it in the net and lost £50,Chris Boyle had a good day with fish and his best at 4lbs 9ozs and Tommy Graham had a good day with 11 fish.

With the warmer water on the coarse loch it is now starting to fish and the new stock will certainly ensure plenty of fish and give good sport for coarse anglers.Only 6 available pegs per day here and booking is advised.

Millbuies opens on the 8th marcch after delaying the opening due to ice on the lochs and fish will be well spread out now making for a good season ahead with plenty of overwintered stock and new fish of first class quality awaiting anglers.Booking here is essential with only 6 boats and keys from the office at Millbuies.

An early brown returned

names are now been taken for the boat comp at Millbuies heats on 1st sunday in may 2nd sunday in June and first sunday in july final 1st sunday in August.First 4 qualify in each heat for final 12.Contact fishery if interested.

Hi Kevin

The report is great :z16 but the Deed Troot photies are a bit old fashioned and unnecessary.

I thought it was a brave new dawn :z16

I like the early Broonie "returned" :z18

Cheers
