Lochter Fishery -Fishing Affected by Ice.
« on: 10/12/2012 at 11:37 »
For much of the week fishing has been much reduced at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum due to ice. The good news is over the weekend virtually all the water cleared and allowed anglers back onto full unrestricted action.
Trout were well down in the water so intermediate or sinking lines were favoured along with flies which would show up in the water which was slightly coloured by snow bree.
Bill Reid had a good day on Monday landing seven using a yellow dancer and Sandy Farrell had six on a minkie. For the rest of the week there was no fishing but come Sunday it was all change and in spite of the wintery wind there were plenty of fishers willing to venture forth.
Kevin Neri had seven on blobs and damsels while Tommy Graham netted six using a WSW. Topping the scoring chart was Steve Corsar with nine while Les Mess from Ellon had four stonking fish on a hybrid fly called a Zuddler.
Hopefully the water will remain ice free in the run up to Christmas and the fishery staff  will do their best to keep it clear but it is always prudent to phone prior to make sure there is plenty of fishable water Tele 01651 872000.
