Delgatie Castle Fishing report w/e 24/11/12
« on: 25/11/2012 at 12:58 »
Rather a dour week of fishing this week until yesterday (Saturday) when things sprang into life and the fish were taking willingly. If only we could understand all the vagaries of the weather and temperatures and the effect these have on feeding patterns together with the unpredictable behaviour of the fish stack. Altogether the past week has been reasonably successful with lures, fished deep, being the most successful but the speed of retreive being unpredicatable in it's effect. Despite the conditions, N Thomson, Turriff landed another 8lb specimen to add to his growing account of larger fish.

The best recorded catches this week were: A Skene, Ellon, 19 fish, (White Fritz), A Murray, Gardenstown, 11 fish, (Black Fritz), S Howie, Aberdeen, 10 fish, (Black Lure), G Murison, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Black Fritz), I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Black Fritz).

Junior angler, S Murison, Fraserburgh also accounted for 5 fish on an Orange Fritz.

Although the water temperature is now quite low we have avoided the appearance of the dreaded ice bearing in mind that in previous years we have had forced closures due to weather conditions in November. The coming weeks weather is predicted to be a bit mixed but temperatures are to remain at seasonable levels.

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water ans is open all year, seven days from 8:00am till dusk. Booking is not necessary and visitors and novices are welcome. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
