Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 10/11/12
« on: November 11, 2012, 11:46:56 AM »
This week has seen a period of seasonal weather with a milder spell in mid week which encouraged the fish to rise in the water column. Several anglers were successful on sedges and black spider which tells us not to pack away the autumn gear until winter really sets in. Most of the recorded catches were on lures fished deep or intermediate or sinking lines but at times during the day the fish migrated to shallow water and good sport was enjoyed on buzzers or nymphs at higher levels. Overall the week has dictated constant changing in both tackle and tactics to keep up with the feeding patterns and has proved difficult for the static angler.

D Buchan from Peterhead landed a plump 10lb specimen on a buzzer whilst D Duthie from Macduff netted a 12lb fish on a yellow dancer.

Other notable catches were:

K Reid, Gardenstown, 24 fish, (orange fritz), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 15 fish, (orange fritz), D Duthie, Macduff, 10 fish, (yellow dancer), B Milton, Buckie, 8 fish, (buzzer), A Murray, Gardenstown, 7 fish, (black fritz).

The coming week suggests the weather will reamain reasonably settled and should encourage the fish to settle into a more regular pattern whilst the reducing water temperature will tend to make them feed deeper.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til dusk. Visitors and novices are welcome and boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
