Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 27/10/12
« on: October 28, 2012, 14:27:09 PM »
This week has certainly been more settled weather wise than the preceding week where water levels were very high. However, this week has seen water levels maintained at a good level with an encouraging flow through of water carrying nutrients and the coming week would indicate a similar level as fields drain into the supply streams.

The most encouraging sign this week has been the emergence of the bigger fish which seem to have returned to feeding at higher water levels and have given good sport to anglers contacting them.

The most notable in the "Big Fish" league have been:

N Thomson, Turriff, 1 x 12lb and 1 x 9lb, B Murison, Fraserburgh, 1 x 10lb, J Clayton, King Edward, 1 x 10lb, P Scott, Macduff and I Burnett, Fraserburgh both landed 8lb fish whilst A Gibson. Gardenstown and A Murray, Gardenstown both accounted for 7lb specimens. A "Blue" of 8lb 90z was also recorded.

The best catches this week "apart from size" were:

A Gibson, Gardenstown, 40 fish, (Olive WSW), A Murray, Gardenstown, 14 fish, (Black Fritz), L Davidson, Macduff, 13 fish, (Olive Damsel), J Clayton, King Edward, 12 fish, (Olive Nymph), N Thomson, Turriff. 9 fish, (Buzzers), P Scott, Macduff, 8 fish, (Bloodworm).

W Gervaise, New Deer, M Laing, Banff and G Morrison, Fraserburgh accounted for 7 fish,

The coming week looks good for anglers although the water temperature will continue to fall with the fish feeding deeper.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am til dusk. Visitors and novices are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006.  :z15
