I had a hearty guffaw when I read that you actually went & had some bacon

Fried in lard until nice and crispy then served in a bap, smeared in butter. One good squirt of French's mustard and away you go! :grin

Thanks for the idea! :z16

Inspired me to have a mini baguette with smoked bacon wholegrain mustard and a bit of Brie. Shame it's lunchtime quite fancy a pint of Guinness with it.

Hi mike :z16

Yes had a few all on bloodworm. Good hard fighting fish. Was surprised at the amount of guys out fishing. It was Baltic and wet but I enjoyed every bit of it. Got lots of good warm layers nowadays only part that needs sorting is feet, my feet were frozen. Will start a thread about that actually.

Started a thread on footwear and socks last night but lost it all while trying to add links.
I had been looking at sealskinz socks, how do these orvis compare? I'm gonna get a bigger pair of wellies to accommodate thick socks. Tight fit is apparently the main cause of cold feet, well after temperature.... Have seen elsewhere people suggest 3 sizes bigger than your normal? Sounds v big to me. Any suggestions?

Yeah......Try them on first :z16

Real rubber and Neoprene lined are brilliant and mine fit with a wee bit of room over a good pair of  bridgedale heavyweight socks.
Not enough room to move my feet around but enough not to feel snug :z6

Good wellies are worth paying for, however john Norris often has slight seconds that are superb value :z16

You need the Electric socks Noel

I tried the Sealskin gloves, they kept my hands dry but now warm

Noel

If i remember right, we have the same size shoes :z8 i take a 10 1/2 or an 11 depending on the shoe.
My wellies are a 46 or  size 11 and they are ideal. I wouldn't be going 2 sizes up.
If you go into country ways in town they have a good selection of nice boots to try on.
Ben should have quite a few in the shop as well :wink
Definately worth trying on a few first IMHO.
