Weed Growth / Lower Don
« on: 13/08/2012 at 09:07 »
I had not fished the river since late Spring and was quite shocked at the weed growth I encountered whilst on the search for tourists during the last week or so.
I only have 3/4 years Don experience and cannot recall seeing so much growth . I suppose that this may in part be due to the most recent mild Winter coming on the back of two severe Winters.

Water levels have been good but even now the weed is proving problematic. I had a fish on Saturday which was eventually landed but made most of the growth in which to aid it's escape. At one stage it was jumping clear 10 yds above and 90 degress to where my line entered the water.

When does active growth cease and is this problem raising it's head further upstream ?
