Kevin I drive a Fiesta and it's one of the best cars I have ever had, 1.4tdci, 59 mile to the gallon, I have no desire to have a Range rover, it brings to mind the comparison between hedge hogs and 4x4 owners, I will leave it at that  :X2

My opinion on tapered leaders on stillwaters is that they are an absoloute waste of money!
I fish stillwaters nearly every week and i tried tapered leaders a few times and found they gave me no advantage even on the dry fly. I also fish the rivers and tapered leaders i would say are necessary for there but not stillwater.

And too the weight of rod and line begginers have bairly if ever used a fly rod so wouldnt probably even notice the defference as i never when i was using a 7/8 then going too my grandas #5. I would just say its all too do with  time and learning from people as you go along for casting youtube helped me with my overhead cast and now im just getting the hang of double hauling all my info ive had off youtube. And tippet size doesnt really matter as most fisheries dont want you using anything below 6lb as you get alot of break offs with any tippet below that.

well when I heard the joke it was BMW drivers, so insert your own make

What's the difference between a 4 x 4 and a Hedgehog ?

On a 4 x 4 the pricks are on the inside  :z4

Nice to know there are others who have fished that scenic North London Mecca of flyfishing. You were a little lighter line than me .Mine was a Fibatube 10 footer for #9 shooting heads, things have changed incredibly since  then.

Scenic indeed!..lol. But some hard fighting Rainbows made the call irresistable.

Hmmm..and we are also the ones pulling the postie out the ditch in the winter so that your letters get through, or giving the local midwife a lift to a remote farm house, or helping tow the local bus up the hill near Torphins because the snow was casuing it problems, or volunteering for the local 4x4 rescue folk who help out the emergency services when they need 4x4's.....

what a dull world it would be if we all drove 4x4's, I have never needed one even during the winter, driving back from embra in a snow storm, the worst aspect is lorry drivers and the slush they kick up overtaking, good on ye for yr towing work, but dont expect any medals,it's what people do to help others, some 4x4 drivers think we smaller car drivers shouldnt be on the road, present company excepted ?  :X2  easgach 1,
