Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Another week past and we are still lamenting the weather conditions. The dry fly sport this week has been very sporadic and most fishers have resorted to the lures for at least periods during the day. We have studied the catching times and methods to establish if a pattern was emerging but after two days we gave up due to the erratic results.

However, some anglers demonstrated their skills or "rode their luck" and recorded good catches, amongst them being;

L Davidson, Macduff, 21 fish, (Olive Fritz, Cormorant, Yellow Dancer), A Murray, Gardenstown, 14 fish, (White Fritz), G Littler, Newmachar, 11 fish, (Klink Hammer/Various), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 9 fish, (Various Lures), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Buzzers), D Brown, Ellon, 7 fish, (Yellow Dancer).

Notable catches were also recorded by two juniors with A Caithness from Kirkcaldy landing 23 fish and Ms J Jeffreys - a recent newcomer to Turriff) landing 5 fish including a nice 6 pounder on her first visit and first attempt at angling. Well done to the juniors.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 08:00am til 9:00pm and visitors are welcome. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
