Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 07/07/12
« on: July 08, 2012, 13:28:28 PM »
The weather has to dictate terms every week with a continuing cold and breezy spell mixed with showers or prolonged periods of rain. This downturn of weather does not equate to ideal fishing conditions and to jog some memories, where have the balmy summer evenings with prolific surface activity and dry fly heaven gone? Tuesday of this week presented conditions marginally close to these ideal evenings and great sport "on the dry" was being enjoyed until the other enemy, the midge, took over and dictated closing time.

By employing a variety of lures and fishing methods we were fortunate to land some good catches. The best among them falling to:

P Scott, Macduff, 18 fish, (Bunny Leech), L Davidson, Macduff, 13 fish, (Yellow Dancer/Various Lures), N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (Buzzers), R Donald, Macduff, 12 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), A Caithness, Kirkaldy, 9 fish, (Olive lure/Cat's Whiskers), E Hall, Cuminestown, 7 fish, (Dry), I Watt, Turriff, 7 fish, (Dry/Buzzers).

6 fish each were also recorded to S Griffiths, Fordyce, W Gervais, New Deer and J Clayton, King Edward.

The forecast in the next week continues to be mixed and hopefully we can enjoy a more seasonable break even if only for a day or two. Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm. Visitors and beginners are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle is available to hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
