As my 12 year old would say..."nom nom"!

I need a few doubles for the sea trout..I had better start tying!

Anyone got an ideas how big a size 15 salar double is?
Is it close to a size 12 or 14 wee double style hook?

Fancy tying some more wee doubles for the sea-troots, but rather fancied using a silver hook.
Size 14's are the best for what i want to do, so something similar about that size would be perfect.
Had a good rake but all i could throw up was the salar in a 15, but i've not seen them in the flesh.
I have some in an 11 and its quite big compared to a 12 wee double?

Any ideas :z8

Probably got a tye-able shank length of about 5-6mm with a gape about equivalent to a normally proportioned #10, say B175.

Also very thick wire and a rank barb.

VMC do silver doubles down to a 14, but they are salmon doubles. The 14 is new and I have not seen it but the 12's are smaller than a Salar 15

Deer Creek do a finer wire double, more like a Wilson low water. I have used these for bigger sea trout flies..

Avoid the Mashama doubles at all costs. Very poor quality, even for the cheap price you pay.

Cheers Guys.

I'll have a look at them Rob  :z16 Sounds closer to what i was after, than anything else i've thrown up.

The VMC size 14's are of a similar size as the Kamasan size 12 trout doubles.
