Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

That was a week that was! Once again the weather has dictated the activity on the water affecting both the anglers and the fish. With a persistent breeze on most days and intermittently heavy rain or drizzle and the temperature mimicking a yo-yo, it proved quite difficult to consistently predict the depth at which the fish were feeding and the lures that they could be enticed to attack. Not surprisingly, although dries and buzzers were relatively successful the best catches were obtained in lures and in many cases by using a sinking line with a relatively quick retreive.

The best catches this week were recorded as:

R Ewing, Macduff, 23 fish, (Kate MacLaren/Diawl Bach), C McPhee, Peterhead, 15 fish, (Dries/Buzzers/Lures), D Duthie, Macduff, 14 fish, (Olive WSW), A Murray, Gardenstown, 12 fish, (Black Fritz), I Watt, Turriff, 12 fish, (Dry/Buzzers/Bloodworm), N Thomson, Turriff, 11 fish, (CDC/Buzzers), R Donald, Macduff, 10 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), S Fraser, Macduff, 9 fish, (Damsel Nymph/Buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 9 fish, (Damsel Nymph/Oilve Buzzer).

This week's forecast is predicting similar unsettled conditions and will no doubt present the same challenges.
