Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

At last - although far from ideal, the weather has moderated and temperature has risen slightly. This has led to better catches although these have fallen to lures fished in the lower levels and unfortunately we are still awaiting the conditions required to enjoy a good evening of dry fly activity. Having said that, at various periods during the day, good sport has been enjoyed with wet flies and buzzers fished just under the surface with the occasional fish rising to the dry. The best catches recorded this week fell to:

A Murray, Gardenstown, 12 fish, (Olive Fritz), M Troup, Methlick, 12 fish, (Black Spider/Dry), J Lench, Stonehaven, 10 fish, (Cotton Candies), J Laing, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (Buzzers), N Paterson, Turriff, 9 fish, (Olive Fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Black Buzzer), A McLauchlan, Oldmeldrum, 8 fish, (Daddy/Fritz), B Milne, Oldmeldrum, 7 fish, (Nymph/Dry), W Bowman, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (Diawl Bach), D Stewart, New Deer, 7 fish, (Damsel Nymph).

The best junior this week was B Murison, Fraserburgh who landed a creditable 9 fish to 5lb on an Orange Fritz.

This week also saw an encouraging level of fish in the 5-7lb range and W Gervaise, New Deer landed a double figure fish.
