Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Another week where our complaints about weather conditions were all too prevalent with the return of the N/NE breeze and consistently low temperatures. Surprisingly during lulls in the breeze and where the strength of the sun diminished, good activity with the dry fly and buzzers was enjoyed but basically the fish remained "dour" and reluctant to fit into any steady feediing pattern, resulting in a constant search for feeding depths and the correct "food of the day". However, the persistent angler still enjoyed reasonable sport and the best catches of the week fell to:

B Milton, Buckie, 8 fish, (CDC dry), A Murray, Gardenstown, 8 fish, (White Fritz), Z Hall, Banff, 8 fish, (Buzzers), G McLeod, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (Dry flies), T Wilson, King Edward, 5 fish, (CDC).

The end of the week and in particular Saturday saw an increase in surface and sub surface activity and whilst the weather forecast is still predicting unsettled conditions, a gradual rise in water temperature should see this trend continue.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm during June/July. Visitors are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishing. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
