Haddo Trout Fishery ( to April 24th )
« on: 25/04/2012 at 17:32 »
Hi folks

The Haddo Broons do not appear to like these ever changing conditions ..... and neither do the fishers apparently, as the fishery has been much quieter over the past couple of weeks :z6

The Broons are rising, but it is a nymphing like rise and these are not easy to tempt. The fish can be caught though, you just need to retrieve at a much faster rate and try to keep your flies in the top foot of water :wink

Black Damsels, Black Woolly Buggers, Bibios, Hot Spot Spiders, Straggle Nymphs, Cormorants, Pearly Pennells, Flexi-Cats and Black Dancers have been productive, as have Buzzers - but retrieved quickly :roll

The two Ron Reids had about a dozen fish up to 6 lb to their boat yesterday, Clint Parsons tempted 8 up to 3 lb for his session, Alan Birnie 7 up to 2 lb, Scott Sim 10 up to 3 lb, Kevin Neri 8 up to 3 lb, Frank Thrall 9 up to 2 lb, Jim Eddie 10 up to 2.5 lb and Rob Paton netted 7 up to 2 lb.

An Orvis tuition day event was held at the fishery on Saturday, it was great to watch the beginners improve steadily throughout the morning and they all caught fish when they took to the boats in the afternoon!

Best wishes
Mike
