There have been a few 20lb+ trout taken by the Pike boys this year, but that fish is a beast. There have been some stories of huge fish lost at the boat due to hooks being crushed and straightened, I wonder what is really in that place.

Who fancies a trip down on a huge brownie hunt? A 3 weight and size 26 CDC Gnat should do the trick :)

That is a monster!!

I work with a guy who has been in the ADAA for many years and he was telling me about some of the giant Broon troot on the Don from years gone past. He was fortunate to land one a lot of years ago that he guessed was in the region of 15 - 18lbs. He mentioned about how he often saw it having a go at ducks that would land near it. He evntually managed to tempt it after trying everything from fly to worming. What it eventually took was a dead mouse used as a lure on his spinning rod.

Wonder if there are any more like that hidden away on the Don?

Serious lump of trout that!

There's bound to be somewhere Dan in 2010 I lost a huge fish that I'd been at for weeks, couldn't get it on dries despite it being up quite regularly and had also failed with streamers until I changed tactic.  It eventually took and I had it on for about 2 minutes until it threw the hook.  It was nowhere near 18lb but it could have been double figures quite easily, it was out of the water several times so I got a good look at it and it was far bigger than the 7lber I got a few years back.

Cheers
