Glen of Rothes trout fishery report w/e2nd April
« on: April 02, 2012, 16:16:19 PM »
The end of the wek brought some fresh rain which will help freshen water up after the spell of warm weather despite this fishing has been very good and bringing fish up onto the surface early in the season. Some very good catches have been seen and especially pleasing is the amount of wild browns and tigers being caught along with blues.Archie Miller had a brown among his 6 fish,Allan catto caught his long awaited tiger trout,Chris johnston had 2 browns upto 2lbs,Phil Sinclair also had a brown,Fish of the week went to Graham Lloyd a fine overwintered rainbow of 12lbs 13ozs which was in great condition.paul Clark had a good day with 15 fish,John Milne had 7,Paul Sharp had 15 on buzzers in practice for the Iain barr competition. The average worked out at around 7 fish per session which is a good average. The Airflo competition was won by Staurt Montgomery who totalled 11 fish and Paul Sharp was second with 12 fish. They will both now go to the final at Elinor and the whole event there will be filmed by Sky Sports. The next competition will be on May 6th which is in memory of our friend and Partner Brian Christie and will be an annual event.

Coarse loch:- began well and fish were starting to take very well untill a change in the temperature put them back a little.Despite this the ide were in the mood and through the week carp, ide, and bream were taken. Its worth advising that heavy groundbaiting does not improve chances of catching on the loch,it has the opposite effect and will lowere your chances of catching. It is not required and only needs a very small amount now and agin which will work in your favour.
